The RxSight Light Adjustable Lens allows 2–3 post-implant UV adjustments to fine-tune your prescription. How the Light Adjustable Lens Works
The LAL contains photosensitive macromers (silicone molecules that change shape when exposed to specific UV wavelengths). After the lens is implanted during standard cataract or refractive lens exchange surgery:
- Week 2–3 post-op: Once the eye has stabilized, you come in for a refraction (standard glasses test)

Important Lifestyle Restrictions During Adjustment Period
The photosensitive macromers in the LAL react to UV light — including sunlight. Until the lock-in treatment is complete, you must:

The current LAL is a monofocal lens — it's adjusted for one focal point (usually distance). You'll likely still need reading glasses. However, monovision can be dialed in (one eye for distance, one for near) using the adjustment feature.
Brief incidental exposure (walking to the car in sunglasses) is unlikely to cause a problem. Prolonged unprotected sun exposure could cause uncontrolled lens changes, which is why the UV-blocking glasses are mandatory and must be worn consistently.
